About Senezio

Senezio is my paternal family name (Tony Senezio). It is a made-up surname and as I understand it comes from the Italian Saint 'St Ezio' The Martyr of Love.

The name was given to my Grandfather 'Attillio' an orphan born in Rome at the turn of the last century.  Attillio was taken in by a Widow in Cervaro in the Province of Frosinone in the region Lazio. It is located in the Liri valley, about 130 km southeast of Rome and about 50 km southeast of Frosinone. At the time Cervaro was a very poor area and when he was 16 he was sponsored to go to America. However he only had enough money to get as far as Ireland where he hoped to raise enough money to take him the rest of the way.

Like many other Italians who are scattered all over western Europe he settled, however he did finally make it to America some fifty years later after raising a family of six including my Natural father 'Antonio'

As I am also an Adopted person neither my son nor I will carry the Senezio name. This web site and the work on it is dedicated to my natural father ‘Antonio Senezio’ who gave me the gift of life and in the few years we knew each other gave me the gift of time.

I wanted to mark his passing and the influence he had encouraging me to return to photography which is what motivated me to produce my recent magnum opus.

'Autumn Light' Artist Proof the largest photograph finished in acrylic in the UK at 150cm x 270cm that’s 4’9” x 8’85” was exhibited and sold at my first west end solo show and I raised £8,910.00 (including gift aid) for three cancer charities in Tony’s name. Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and East Wing St Bart’s Cancer ward.
